The waterfall Goðafoss is in a short distance from the cabin and from there its ideal to drive in to the walley of Bárðardalur and look at the impressive and beautiful waterfall Aldeyjarfoss. This is one of the most unique and beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. The waterfall is not very tall but it falls into a round shape pool with black basalt columns around it. It is quite different than other typical waterfalls you see in Iceland. It is definitely worth a visit. The valley of Bárðardalur is the longest valley in Iceland. Another place near by worth to visit would be Grenjaðarstaður, it is the site of a church, and also of one of the most famous turf farms in Iceland. It was home to the chieftains of the past, and it is an enlightening experience to visit the farm and become acquainted with the lives of Iceland's rich and famous in days gone by. From the cabin there is only a short distance to Lake Mývatn. When you are there we recommend you stop at Dimmuborgir is a large area of unusually shaped lava fields east of Mývatn in Iceland. The Dimmuborgir area is composed of various volcanic caves and rock formations, reminiscent of an ancient collapsed citadel. The dramatic structures are one of Iceland's most popular natural tourist attractions.

At Myvatn Nature Baths you can relax in the alkaline bathing lagoon and enjoy the scenery.

Then you could travel alongside the Jokulsargljufur Glacial canyon to Vesturdalur valley and to Hljodaklettar, the echoing cliffs. They are world known for their basalt columns that characterize the ancient lava flow, really beautiful area. Next you could come down to the imposing horseshoe-shaped canyon Asbyrgi, surrounded by precipitous cliffs.
